A Deleted Scene from In the Doghouse

One of the hardest choices an author has to make is if a scene should be cut from the final story and if the details should still be included as backstory somewhere else in the book. Hopefully, this decision is made with the help of a reliable editing team and beta readers, but ultimately, the reward or regret of said choice falls on the author.

Now is the time . . . a gift for you

A quick FYI about my new book, In the Doghouse: A Couple’s Breakup from Their Dog’s Point of View, and how the publishing industry works for indie authors.

Now is the time to order it if you are anxious to get my new book when it releases on April 16th, because this week, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and bookstores will tell my publisher how many books they need based on the pre-orders. The publisher will then print and ship the inventory to the vendors for release on April 16th. If you wait to order the paperback or hardcover book after this week, even if you are a Prime member with Amazon, lead and shipping times will probably be more like 2 weeks, not 2 days, unfortunately.

Plus, if you do pre-order, you will get 2 free months from DOGTV. Just email me your order deets and I’ll give you the coupon code: teri@tericase dot com.

Thanks for being you!

Want to be in the book trailer?

Dear Friend,

I’m working on the book trailer for In the Doghouse: a couple’s breakup from their dog’s point of view.

If you’d like to be in the trailer, please send me a picture of one of the following. You need to own the photo:

  • A photo of you with your pet(s)*
  • A happy photo with your partner
  • An argument or discussion with your partner (feel free to stage this one, please don’t really get in an argument)
  • A photo with a family member
  • A photo of your favorite co-workers or clients**

I’m still a starving artist so you won’t be compensated, but you will get bragging rights, and your name will be in the credits at the end. I may not be able to use everyone’s pictures, but I’m going to do my best. To send the picture, email it to me at teri@tericase.com or tag me on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter*** And please feel free to share this newsletter with friends.

Need some music to inspire you? Here is the song being used for the trailer of In the Doghouse. It’s called “Loves Gotta Look” by Zoetica. They gave me permission to use it for the trailer!

IN THE DOGHOUSE:
a couple’s breakup from their dog’s point of view

Skip is a rescued dog who wants to matter. He loves living in a blissful pack with his human couple, John and Lucy, and he has bow-vowed to never lose them. But when John walks out after seven happy years, Lucy and Skip’s world is turned upside down. Skip’s determined to guide Lucy through her identity crisis, but he’s harboring a secret: he’s to blame for the breakup and her broken heart. Can Skip build a new pack for Lucy and himself and become indispensable to her before she discovers his canine treason and kicks him to the curb?

“In the Doghouse is a story of love, loss, guilt, and new beginnings told from the hilarious yet wise perspective of the lovable family dog.” –Cathey Nickell

Short Case–In the Doghouse

Short Case

A Vitality Stories Quickie

Buddy Bulldog on Tiger Drive by Teri Case

I’m excited to announce an update to the weekly Vitality Stories newsletter. Sometimes, in lieu of my longer Vitality Stories newsletter, I will send a Short Case. What’s a Short Case? I hoped you’d ask. It’s a short update or share by me, Teri Case (see what I did there?). I’m starting the Short Case format because I know you’re busy and don’t always have time to read a longer newsletter–I value the time you do have and your friendship. The content remains the same and will continue to arrive on Thursdays. Still will be sharing personal stories, inside scoops, lessons from others, and writing or my book updates. So here’s the first Short Case.

In the Doghouse–Cover Reveal and Description coming in May!

This new book is adult fiction and the main character is Skip, a Wolador dog. What’s a Wolador? A Timber Wolf/Labrador-mix dog. And he’s awesome. The above picture is of Buddy the Bulldog. He belongs to a dear friend. He has absolutely nothing to do with In the Doghouse, but he is my first canine fan of Tiger Drive.

Send me a picture of your pet–all species welcome. Soon I will be working on the trailer for In the Doghouse, and your pet might make it to the video.

Thanks for being you. Ruf Ruf!

Are You Listening To Me?

Are you a Knower or a Listener?

Several years ago I was having a water cooler discussion with a man at work. He said, “I’m trying to become a listener.”

I asked, “You mean a better listener?”

“No, a Listener,” he said.

He then explained Continue reading

Don’t Forget To Feed Your Inner Dog

Positively grateful

I’ve been sending a Vitality Stories Newsletter to my email subscribers every Thursday morning since last August, and then on Thursday, April 14th, I didn’t. I was obsessing about the right balance between quality and quantity, and I assumed I was the only one who was paying attention to my schedule. Continue reading
