I Can’t Believe I’m Doing This

This week, I made two decisions that I would never have frigging considered this time last year.

Decision #1: Tiger Drive Squad

This paragraph has been revised for the website posting. This particular decision was a private invitation I made to my subscribers via the Vitality Stories Newsletter. In a nutshell, I invited them to contact me if they would like to start reading Tiger Drive, chapter by chapter as I edit it, to help me hone in on my audience.

Now, back to the original second half of the post:

Decision #2: The Gateway Mastermind

I’ve been involved in my share of groups and programs to get over the vulnerable feeling of writing a newsletter, a book, and more, but one that made a huge impact was Dan Blank’s Mastermind where I learned to collaborate and share ideas with other creative people. Some of these people have become my closest friends, and I’ve never even met them in person! I met Dan in October 2014 when I was afraid to start my website. He pointed out that there were a billion websites and no one would know mine even existed until I wanted to tell them about it, and therefore, I should experiment and once I was comfortable, tell people. So I did, and I haven’t looked back.

So when his Masterminds started October 2015, I jumped in. I’ve taken three, three-month long, masterminds to date. I’ve grown as a creative person each time.

So imagine my surprise when Dan contacted me two weeks ago and asked me if I’d like to facilitate his session starting in April:  The Gateway Mastermind. Even more shocking, I listened to my gut and immediately said, “YES! YES! YES!”

The Gateway Mastermind is still Dan’s show where he shares daily videos and helps all the masterminders navigate their goals and learn how to collaborate. I’m facilitating the process side of the mastermind, and I’ll be engaging with the masterminders on a daily basis, learning from them, rooting for them, sharing ideas that come to my mind, and more. It’s a win-win for me, and I am going to do my best to make sure my participation is a win-win for everyone involved.

A year ago, I would have thought Dan had texted and emailed the wrong person, but at this point in my life, I realized that my past life with a career as an executive assistance and my current life as a writer had come together. I liked being an assistant because I enjoyed improving processes, and I liked supporting someone else and helping them achieve their goals in their careers and for the corporations. And I love, love, love supporting my fellow creatives in their pursuit of their passion. In this instance, my knack for process improvement and supporting others came together in my creative life. It’s gratifying because for years as an executive assistant I alway said someday I’d write a book, but someday remained in the distance. I wondered if I was wasting my life as an assistant, but now I can see how one prepared me for the other. My experience gives me sincerity and confidence in both facilitating Dan’s The Gateway Mastermind and navigating the publishing industry.

Who is the Gateway Mastermind for? Dan recently wrote a book, Be the Gateway: A Practical Guide to Sharing Your Creative Work and Engaging an Audience (I know, right?! I’ve been going on and on about that book for days now and all before Dan contacted me) and this particular mastermind will work through some of the concepts and strategies. It begins April 1st. If you’re interested, I think he still has a few slots open.

Have you ever been surprised by how much you’ve changed or grown by being faced with a decision? Let me know.

As always, thanks for being you!!!!!

Teri
